Can somebody explain the concept of double jeopardy?

This would have been a court error. He was found innocent on appeal in the first crime. The second crime was perjury. That is Not the same crime as the murder, hence no double jeopardy. He was not again tried for the murder; he was tried for perjury - a totally separate crime. If convicted of perjury, he still would do time.
