Boyfriend using ipad while using the restroom etiquette?

Well me and my boyfriend where watching SNL on his Ipad and then he gets up to go to the restroom and take his Ipad. I though this was rude, who uses their ipads in the restroom seriously? I though it was disturbing. Any thoughts?
